J-Lo & G-Lo make influential list

Jennifer Lopez and George Lopez are amongst Time Magazine's 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America, a list which appears in the new August 22 edition.
J-Lo was chosen for embodying the American dream of success through hard work and ambition, the magazine said. G-Lo, whose George Lopez show on ABC has earned solid ratings since its 2002 debut, is one of only three Latinos who have starred in lead roles on network sitcoms starring Latinos, notes Time.
Also making the list is actress Salma Hayek. Time writes: "She plays the show-biz game like a true scrimmager, dodging, scrambling and tackling much bigger obstacles."
Alberto Gonzales, the nation's first Hispanic attorney general, also made the cut for helping President Bush "build a more muscular executive branch."
Other Time Top 25 Hispanics include Cuban-Irish writer Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez, Cuban-American Senator Mel Martinez and Mexican-American filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.

J.Lo Complains Fame Limits Film Opportunities

World Entertainment News Network reports that Jennifer Lopez is complaining that her fame has prevented her from landing desirable film roles. "In the beginning, I was a blank slate. I got to work with all these great directors because I was just a girl who came in there and did well in the audition," the diva said. "Then when I became famous, I was being offered movies that I could star in but that's all I was being offered. When I think I should be seeing the big directors, they don't even consider me. They see me as a sexy singer and too much in the media."

Jennifer Lopez to open first store

Jennifer Lopez is set to open her first U.S. store, World of JLo, inside Marshall Fields in Chicago on Sept. 22, modeling it after her JLo boutique in Moscow. "Having the first World of JLo shop in the nation is a huge coup for us," the department store's president tells Star People. Too bad nobody informed them that having the first Jennifer Lopez store is the equivalent of housing Hitler's moustache. I'm not exactly sure how, but I hate Jennifer with so much passion that weird Hitler analogies are the only things I can think of whenever I talk about her.
